Jorge Torres, D.D.S.

Dr. Torres studied dentistry at Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee, WI. After earning his DDS degree from Marquette in 1993, he completed a General Practice Residency program at East Carolina University School of Medicine in Greenville, NC. Dr. Torres was greatly influenced by Dr. Jasper Lewis, a renowned pediatric dentist and faculty member of the General Practice Residency program at ECU, and he decided to further his training to become a Specialist in Pediatric Dentistry. He completed a two-year pediatric dentistry residency program at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Torres was honored to follow-up his specialty training by working in private practice with Dr. Jasper Lewis for two years. In 1998, Dr. Torres returned to his hometown of Caguas, Puerto Rico where he purchased a well-established pediatric dental practice from a retiring dentist. Dr. Torres was happy to have the opportunity to serve the community where he was raised. Dr. Torres moved to Brandon, FL to become the principal dentist and owner of Pediatric Dentistry of Brandon in mid-2013. Dr. Torres has completed postgraduate training in orthodontics through the (g)nathos program and Invisalign. He has presented lectures on issues related to pediatric dentistry and practice management. Dr. Torres is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), the American Dental Association (ADA), the Florida Dental Association (FDA), and the Colegio de Cirujanos Dentistas de Puerto Rico (CCDPR).

Dr. Torres strongly believes that prevention is key to a lifetime of excellent oral health and that the key to prevention is education. He stresses the importance of educating both parents and children on how to achieve and maintain healthy teeth. Dr. Torres makes every effort to treat his patients like family, including considering which dentistry plan he would choose before presenting parents with their children’s treatment options. Dr. Torres and his wife, Kerry, are very excited to call Florida home. When you come to our practice, you will likely meet Kerry, who is the practice’s General Manager. Both Dr. Torres and Kerry thoroughly enjoy working with children, and they have two of their own, Jorgito and Almarosa. The Torres family loves to travel, sail, and try new restaurants.

Patients of all ages find it easy to talk to Dr. Torres, even the youngest patients and teens. “I understand what motivates teens,” said Dr. Torres, “and I am delighted whenever I can encourage them and contribute to their confidence and self-esteem.”
